A farm town in the middle of the valley
Woodburn grew up on farmland. The Woodburn museum says the town called itself the “Berry Center of the World” in 1923. The USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture ranks Marion County first in Oregon and fifth in the country for nursery and greenhouse sales.
The Oregon Department of Forestry’s July 2026 tree health bulletin reports emerald ash borer spreading from an infestation east of Woodburn, and Marion County is in the firewood quarantine. It is a tree pest, not a house pest, and we don’t treat trees: report suspected damage to the Oregon Invasive Species Hotline at 1-866-INVADER.
When to expect it
Yellow jackets are the summer call. In Interstate Pest Management records for new Oregon customers over the last five years, July and August brought 47% of the year’s new wasp and yellow jacket calls. The PNW Insect Management Handbook says colonies are most troublesome in August and September.

OSU Extension says yellow jackets often nest in the ground. If you find one, mark the hole, keep kids and pets away from it and give us a call. Our technicians treat nests with protective gear.
