What Do Silverfish Look Like?
Silverfish are small wingless insects with flat bodies, long antennae, and small compound eyes. They get their name from their silvery gray and blue colors and wriggly, fish-like movement. Silverfish grow to be about ¾ of an inch long.
What Attracts Silverfish?
One of the biggest attractants of silverfish is moisture. These nuisance pests require high humidity levels to survive, which is why you commonly see them in bathrooms, kitchens, crawlspaces, and other damp areas.
Silverfish are also attracted to carbohydrates and proteins–items such as pasta, oats, and flour. They also feed on books, insulation, boxes, and glue.

What are the Habits of Silverfish?
Silverfish are nocturnal. They tend to hide in crevices and cracks during the day and come out at night. They often leave behind scrape marks and fungus on items they’ve infested on or eaten, so you’ll typically notice their damage before actually seeing them.
